Meta debuts generative AI features for advertisers

Meta has introduced generative AI features for advertisers, allowing them to create backgrounds, expand images, and generate multiple versions of ad text. These tools were unveiled at Meta Connect, along with other generative AI products like stickers and editing tools. While not as flashy as celebrity AIs, Meta believes these features can assist brands and businesses that contribute to the majority of its revenue. The first feature allows advertisers to customize their creative assets by generating different backgrounds for their product images. Image expansion enables advertisers to adjust assets to fit different aspect ratios required across various platforms. The text variations feature generates up to six different versions of ad text based on the original copy, allowing advertisers to highlight specific keywords and phrases. Meta can display different combinations of text to different audiences to determine which ones drive better responses. Early results indicate that generative AI can save advertisers five or more hours per week. Meta plans to further customize the AI output and develop new features like ad copy generation and generative backgrounds. Additionally, businesses will be able to use AI for messaging on WhatsApp and Messenger.
